چکیده

The Herbig–Haro complex GGD37 is an active region in the west of Cepheus A. We have used the ISO Short Wavelength Spectrometer (SWS) to investigate the physics of this region by observations of molecular hydrogen and forbidden atomic and ionic emission lines over a wide wavelength and excitation energy range. We find excitation temperatures of the emitting molecular gas to be between 700 and 11000 K, the former being thermal in nature, whilst the latter implies a contribution from non–thermal processes. Gas densities in the emitting region are at least 105 cm 3. An H2 ortho–to–para ratio of 3, equal to the ratio of statistical weights, is consistent with our observations. The forbidden transitions can be modelled by a planar J–shock with pre–shock density of 103 to 104 cm 3 and velocity 70 to 80 km s 1. The H2 lines cannot be fit by either a single planar J– or C–shock, but instead require a combination of at least two C–shocks with different pre–shock density, shock velocity and covering factor.

Molecular Hydrogen Kinematics in Cepheus A

We present the radial velocity structure of the molecular hydrogen outflows associated to the star forming region Cepheus A. This structure is derived from the doppler shift of the H2 v=1–0 S(1) emission line obtained by Fabry–Pérot spectroscopy. The East and West regions of emission, called Cep A (E) and Cep A (W), show radial velocities in the range of -20 to 0 km s with respect to the molecu...

Study of Photon Dominated Regions in Cepheus B

Aims. The aim of the paper is to understand the emission from the photon dominated regions in Cepheus B, estimate the column densities of neutral carbon in bulk of the gas in Cepheus B and to derive constraints on the factors which determine the abundance of neutral carbon relative to CO. Methods. This paper presents 15×15 fully sampled maps of [C ] at 492 GHz and 12CO 4–3 observed with KOSMA ...

CS observations of the hotspot at the S 155/Cepheus B interface

We have used the IRAM 30-m telescope to map, in the J=2–1, J=3–2 and J=5–4 rotational transitions of CS, the molecular hotspot located south-east of the Cepheus OB3 association, at the interface that divides the S 155 diffuse Hii region from the Cepheus B molecular cloud. We have also used the FCRAO 13.7-m telescope to map the larger scale CS(2– 1) emission. The ' 1′ × 1′ segment that has been ...

A Pulsed, Precessing Jet in Cepheus A

We present near-infrared H2, radio CO, and thermal infrared observations of the nearby massive star-forming region Cepheus A (Cep A). From H2 bow shocks arranged along four distinct jet axes, we infer that the massive protostellar source HW2 drives a pulsed, precessing jet that has changed its orientation by about 45 in roughly 104 years. The current HW2 radio jet represents the most recent eve...

Fermi observations of Cassiopeia and Cepheus: gamma-ray diffuse emission in the outer Galaxy

We have used measurements by the Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT) to study the interstellar gamma-ray emission in a region of the second Galactic quadrant, at 100◦ < l < 145◦ and −15◦ < b < 30. This region encompasses the prominent Gould-Belt clouds of Cassiopeia, Cepheus, and the Polaris flare, as well as large atomic and molecular complexes at larger distances in several spiral arms. The good...
